Today is different somehow
At least it seems to be
No reason stands out
But it feels different
Like a new pair of shoes
That you’re wearing for the first time
You’ve worn shoes before
Just not these shoes
It’s different
The smells and senses
The haze over things that were clear
The clarity of things that were hidden
That feeling that something should be happening
Something will happen
Anticipation itself is different
Waiting for the other shoe to drop
Only, waiting for it to float gently
Down to the ground, and land softly
The same motions, only slower
Softer and more elegant
Today is different somehow
I just can’t put my finger on it
