A dying fire is still quite warm.
Two people interacting is often one of the most unpredictable events. Groups of people are predictable. Individuals usually aren’t. In relationships, constant communication is the best way to head off unpleasantness. In my view, troubles and frustrations are overlooked, like the constant chirping of an expired smoke detector battery. We tend to focus on how annoying that chirping is, and ignore the real danger we place ourselves in by removing the cover instead of replacing the battery. A simple thing, but the signal disruption is gone, the nagging disturbance, so all is well, right?
Until we wake up with the house on fire.
