However Fast We Go, Death Awaits When We Stop Moving

Toes dip into swells twixt feathered feet
A hermaion sinks ‘neath the ocean’s deep
Hamartia, the anchor weighing down
Caduceus, neither healing nor flying, drowns

No loft within those winged shoes
Angela McCluskey sings the blues
“Bringer of good luck”, it was said
Whilst shepherding souls of the dead

Yon Quicksilver! Yon Hermes! Pan!
Oneiropompus, koi no yokan
Argus’ eyes, an avian cerulean show
Messages taken as far as they can go

No trick exists, deception ceased
Upon the fallen god vultures feast
The carcass, washed out with the tide
This god, like many things, has died

We were just half friends
Occupied in the light
Sometimes Brighton Beach
Sometimes half awake

Thought we’d share this song
’til I heard you give the line
To another girl with the sparkle
in her eyes

Why can’t you go find yourself
And make me want to know you?
Why can’t you go find yourself
And make me want to show you?

Oh, I listen to your stories
I smile when you take a break
But the dark is working overtime
Can you just see me melt?

What are we thinking here?
Pretend that we’re so close
Think we’re something special
Well, I’m giving up the ghost

Why can’t you go find yourself
And make me want to know you?
Why can’t you go find yourself
And make me want to show you?
